This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Estimator or M&E Estimator to join a well-established M&E Building Services contractor based in the Colchester area, delivering a range of commercial projects across multiple sectors.

The Role
As a Mechanical Estimator / M&E Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical building services works, supporting the wider pre-construction team.
The role involves reviewing tender documentation, engaging with the supply chain, and ensuring all submissions are commercially viable and technically robust.
Projects typically range from small works through to larger commercial building services installations, generally from £100k up to £3m in value.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing detailed cost estimates for mechanical and M&E projects
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Carrying out take-offs and preparing pricing schedules
- Obtaining and analysing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Supporting the preparation of tender submissions
- Liaising with internal teams to ensure smooth project handover
- Identifying cost-saving and value engineering opportunities
Requirements
- Experience working as a Mechanical Estimator or M&E Estimator within Building Services
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and installations
- Experience pricing commercial building services projects
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Stable career history demonstrating reliability and commitment (this role is not suited to frequent job movers)
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
Remuneration Package – Mechanical Estimator / M&E Estimator
- £55,000–£75,000
