Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a well-established and highly regarded building services consultancy based in Sunderland.

Our client is an award-winning consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality electrical and mechanical (M&E) design solutions across a wide range of sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, residential, and industrial projects. Established in 1998, the business operates both nationally and internationally, with a collaborative and technically strong workforce.

The Role

You will be responsible for the design and delivery of electrical building services systems, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

Electrical design of building services systems including lighting, power, and fire & security systems
Producing calculations, specifications, and technical drawings
Supporting project delivery across multiple sectors
Liaising with clients, contractors, and internal teams
Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and sustainability standards

Requirements

Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Building Services
Experience in electrical design within a consultancy environment
Proficiency with industry software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, or similar)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Working towards or achieved Chartered status (desirable)
