Senior Buyer / Procurement Manager – MEP Contractor

Location: Derby

Salary: Up to £75,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

The Opportunity:

A market-leading MEP Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their established commercial and procurement team based on a major project in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering multiple high-profile mechanical and electrical packages across this major manufacturing facility, with package values in excess of £20 million.

You will be responsible for leading procurement strategies across this multi-phased scheme set to run for 5+ years, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, plant, and subcontract packages while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage procurement of mechanical and electrical materials across multiple projects
Source and negotiate subcontract packages including specialist M&E services
Develop and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships
Secure best value through strategic purchasing and negotiation
Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and material availability
Collaborate closely with commercial, operational, and project delivery teams
Ensure procurement activities align with project budgets and timelines
Support risk management and supply chain resilience strategies

Candidate Requirements:

Proven experience as a Senior Buyer, Buyer, or Procurement Manager within the M&E / MEP sector
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services procurement
Experience procuring both materials and subcontract packages
Background working with MEP contractors or major building services companies
Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ideally based within commutable distance to Bristol
