Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor
Our client is a multi-disciplined main contractor operating across the UK and Europe with a turnover of €750m and sustained annual growth of 5%–7.5%. They deliver large-scale, turnkey projects for blue-chip clients, with a strong focus on data centres and other technology-heavy developments.
Following a recent project win, our client is now seeking an experienced Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a major data centre project in Frankfurt, Germany. This role will play a critical part in the commercial management of complex mechanical and electrical packages on a high-value, technically demanding scheme.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor will take ownership of the M&E commercial function on the project, managing key subcontract packages and ensuring robust cost control throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities will include:
- Full commercial management of mechanical and electrical work packages
- Procurement and negotiation of major M&E subcontract packages
- Preparation, submission, and agreement of interim valuations
- Management of variations, change control, and final accounts
- Cost forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management for M&E elements
- Ensuring contractual compliance and risk mitigation
- Working closely with project, design, and commissioning teams
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and specialist subcontractors
Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
- Significant experience in an M&E or building services quantity surveying role
- Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex M&E packages (data centres, pharma, healthcare, or similar environments advantageous)
- Strong knowledge of M&E systems and associated commercial challenges
- Excellent understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures
- Strong negotiation, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient in commercial and cost management systems
- Willingness to be site-based in Frankfurt (relocation or expat package typically available)
