About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Rail Asset Protection Manager to join our outstanding Major Projects team to work at our Old Oak Common development in London – join us and be part of the largest construction project in the UK.
HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.
Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide highspeed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.
What you'll be doing
- Assist in management of the document review process, dealing with the consenting body NR/ASPRO and LU. Communication and consultation with other functions within the project is key, identifying other key interfaces with other disciplines (including participation within the inter-disciplinary check meetings IDC’s and design reviews IDR’s)
- Assist the Lead Interface Manager and the track & civils CRE in the management and review of WPP’s and design documentation to deliver the compliance required within the project, provide management assistance to the various project teams in the production of the WPP’s/TB’s and risk assessments proposed for the work. Manage & coordinate the updates to the document deliverables tracker, liaise with the onsite document control to devise a weekly summary of submittals from the wider project team.
- Work alongside the DWWP manager to coordinate the readiness reviews for possessions and align the documents tracker to the T-Minus procedure
- Manage and devise a communication plan with document control to give them a look-ahead of proposed documents for a timely submittal
- Provide necessary management site support to the project teams, construction manager, site supervisors and sub-contractors throughout the works to ensure that critical interfaces are fully compliant to the NR & LU standards and engineering decisions can be made in a timely manner and that issues arising can be dealt with to ensure compliance with a minimum of re-work.
- Drive other integrated project team members to the table, to gain best for project decisions as we work alongside each other.
- Carry out regular checks and audits to existing documentation.
- The role is based at Old Oak House HS2 office / site environment. It is a requirement of the role to attend site on a when required (including weekends and / or night shifts) to deliver allocated works within the Old Oak Common project.
Who we're looking for
- A very good working knowledge of the NR standards and will need an awareness of the LU standards
- Knowledge of AC & DC electrical systems and how they work
- A current PTS and medical, CSCS card
- An understanding of NR possession roles and responsibilities
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- Knowledge of AMP process
- Experience of railway construction planning
- Computer literacy – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Projects
- Understanding of Railway planning systems
- Understanding of the Railway operating environment
