Your CV is the most important thing when it comes to finding a new job.
So
it
is important to get it right at the first attempt. Don't be scared to put
down too much but also don't go on too much. You must find the balance but
most importantly you must tell your prospective employer who you are and
what you can do. Never assume that they should know, it is up to you to
tell
them.
Start with your Personal details. This can include your name, age, date of birth, marital
status, address and contact numbers, driving license, Passport holder etc.
etc.
Next you should put your education qualifications most recent first.
Ideally
this will be what the qualification is, the date of the qualification, the
place the qualification was obtained from and what you gained.
Now move on to work experience. Again most recent first. It is important to
concentrate on the last 4 years with a lot of detail as this is your
current
experience. remember to put your keywords or BUZZ words in the main text as
they will stand out and the more times you mention certain words the more
experienced you will look. It is important that you explain exactly what it
was you were doing at your past employers, for example if you put that you
were in charge of a 20 million pound project at Terminal 5 you should be
able to quantify what exactly you were in charge of.
Make sure that you put the months and years that you worked with your past
employers and explain any reasons for any gaps in your cv.
The last thing on a cv should be
interests and references. Think hard about
interests as it can be an excellent opportunity to round off the CV.
